How Forward Pharmacy Serves Our Patients and Communities
October marks American Pharmacists Month, and we’d like to take a minute to toot our own horn and highlight the invaluable contributions pharmacists make to our healthcare system and communities. At Forward Pharmacy, we’re proud of the dedicated work our highly skilled pharmacists, technicians, and staff do every day. Their expertise is a cornerstone in supporting the health and well-being of our neighbors.
Our team goes far beyond dispensing medications. Forward Pharmacy professionals:
- Provide medication counseling to ensure patients understand how to take their prescriptions safely and effectively
- Offer immunizations to protect against flu, COVID-19, and other preventable diseases
- Perform health screenings like blood pressure checks and diabetes testing
- Provide convenient and same day appointment availability for Strep, RSV, Flu, COVID, and Lyme disease testing
- Collaborate with local doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and other caregivers to optimize medication therapies
- Answer questions about drug interactions, side effects, and over-the-counter options
- Help patients navigate insurance issues and find cost-effective alternatives when needed
The accessible nature of community pharmacies like ours means we’re often the first point of contact for health concerns.
Our pharmacists use their extensive clinical knowledge to assess situations, provide sound advice, and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
We’re also deeply engaged in public health initiatives. This includes educating seniors about Medicare Part-D, running public vaccine clinics at school, and educating the community on important topics like opioid safety. Our pharmacists are also deeply involved in all aspects of community pharmacy, serving on the boards of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board, and the Dane County Immunization Coalition. They also advocate to our elected representatives to help preserve healthcare options for patients across the state and the nation.
