COVID Vaccines are Here!

The FDA has approved a new version of the COVID vaccine! The new vaccine  should be given to all eligible patients 6 months of age and older, regardless of vaccination status, according to this schedule. Adults and children 12 years of age and older,  regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated and without regard to the number of doses they have received, should receive one dose of the adult version of the new vaccine. Moderna or Pfizer may be used, regardless of which vaccines they may have received in the past. Children 5 to 11 years old should  receive one dose of the pediatric version of the new vaccine. Moderna or Pfizer may be used, regardless of which vaccines they may have received in the past.months through 4 years of age: Children 6 months through 4  years of age need more than one dose according to this schedule, and they should try to use the same vaccine they have had in the past (though providers may use any age appropriate if the preferred vaccine is not available. This chart shows the recommendations by age.

The vaccines are no longer available to patients at no charge because of the ending of the public health emergency. These new COVID vaccines will be covered by insurance and the Vaccines For Children (VFC) program, so patients 18 years of age and younger can get their COVID shot free of charge. For adults, insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare will cover the new vaccines. Forward Pharmacy is proud to be a VFC provider and we  accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans. We can help your patients get their COVID vaccinations to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe. We offer appointments and walk-ins Monday through Saturday  at all 5 of our locations. Appointments are available on our website.
