Pharmacies are Your Vaccination Destination!
Did you know that pharmacies offer more than just the flu and Covid shots? Immunizations are one of the best ways to keep your patients healthy, and pharmacies play a vital role in providing immunizations for all ages. All six Forward Pharmacy locations offer MMR, Hep A, Hep B, Tdap, HPV, Zoster, and pneumococcal vaccines. Our pharmacists stay up to date on the latest recommendations from the CDC so you can be sure that your patients are getting the vaccines they are due. Many vaccines are covered at the pharmacy with no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.
At Forward Pharmacy, we have appointments available every day and are open in the evening and on weekends. If you have patients that need vaccines, send them our way and we can help them determine which vaccines are needed and when. We enter every vaccine we administer into the Wisconsin Immunization Registry the same day we give it, so you can be sure your patients’ immunization records are up to date. Forward Pharmacy can vaccinate children as young as 3 years old without a prescription. We are able to vaccinate children under the age of 3, but we need a prescription from their healthcare provider.
Prescription Tips
- If you have a patient who takes 2 different strengths of a medication, consider sending over a single prescription to save the patient a copay. For example, sertraline 100mg: take 1 ½ tablets (150mg) daily instead of a prescription for 100mg tablets and a separate prescription for 50mg tablets.
- When it comes to topical medications such as creams and ointments, please put approximately how many grams per day the patient is expected to use. As a rule of thumb, 1 gram will cover an area about the size of a hand.
